Repair world with Beth Am
Congregation Beth Am's Tikkun Olam Day will take place Sunday, Oct. 19.
Participants will have an opportunity to repair the environment by caring for new oak trees in the Stanford hills, serve the hungry and homeless by preparing meals at Bread of Life in East Palo Alto or house-painting with Habitat for Humanity in Palo Alto. They will create gifts of caring by sewing with a quilting bee or making baskets of toiletries for local shelters.

JCC class teaches pre-1900 Jewish history
"Odyssey Through American Jewish History" will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14 and continue through Dec. 9 at Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center, 14855 Oka Road, Los Gatos.
Instructor Alexis Rubin will lead discussions on American Jewish history, the German-Jewish immigration to America, the Civil War and other events leading to the turn of the century. Cost is $25 for members, $30 for non-members. For information, call (408) 358-3636.
Roadside repair class will start in Aptos
A four-week class on emergency roadside repair and basic automotive maintenance will take place at 2:30 p.m. Sundays beginning Oct. 19 through Nov. 9 at Temple Beth El, 3055 Porter Gulch Road, Aptos.
