BAhadassah_normal_SizeLiz Alpert and Ken Friedenbach of Santa Cruz (above) were among many people from the Bay Area who traveled to Israel last month to celebrate Hadassah’s 100-year anniversary. In this photo, Alpert, the past president of the Central Pacific Region and a current area adviser, and her husband, Friedenbach, a Hadassah associate, were attending the dedication of a landmark Hadassah project — the $363 million Sarah Wetsman Davidson Hospital Tower at Hadassah Medical Center’s Ein Kerem campus in Jerusalem. The Centennial Convention from Oct. 15 to 18 included speeches by Israeli President Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was presented with Hadassah’s Henrietta Szold Award. Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America, has 330,000 members and is committed to medical care/research, women’s empowerment, education, advocacy and building Jewish identity in Israel and around the world.
