Business, Professional & Real Estate: Social media pros to discuss managing online image

In today’s business world, professional and personal reputations are defined by what appears online. The first thing most prospective clients do when looking for a consultant, doctor, lawyer or business is an online search. What will they find when they find you? Is your online profile optimized for searches? Is the information distorted? How does it impact your business prospects?
The Business Leadership Council, a program of the S.F.-based Jewish Community Federation, will present a panel of social media experts to discuss how to create, optimize, maintain and protect your image.
The panel, “Creating and Protecting Your Online Brand,” is from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30 at Goodwin Procter, 135 Commonwealth Drive, Menlo Park.
Panelists are Shanee Ben-Zur, who runs social media for Nvidia, a Santa Clara–based global visual computing company; Daniel Bernstein, who leads global product partnerships and business development for Google+ and is a board member of the Mission Minyan; Brent Franson, vice president of sales at Reputation.com, who frequently speaks about online reputation management; and David Spark, founder of the Spark Media Solutions and a veteran tech journalist who has appeared on Wired News, PCWorld, ABC Radio and TechTV, among others.
Cost is $72, half of which is a donation to JCF; for donors of $500 or more, cost is $25.
