Congregation Sinai in San Jose will present “Railroad to Freedom: Helping Jews and Other Minorities Leave Iran,” at 7:30 p.m. on Nov 2. Lecturer Mark Hetfield, president and CEO of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, will speak on the challenges facing religious minorities in Iran, thousands of whom immigrate to the U.S. each year with the help of HIAS.

His talk will address what HIAS does to keep this “railroad to freedom” operating under circumstances such as the political situation in Iran, and what the future of emigration for Jews and other minorities might look like.

The free lecture will be followed by a dessert reception. Congregation Sinai is located at 1532 Willowbrae Ave., San Jose. For information, contact the Sinai office at (408) 264-8532 or email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

In addition, Shabbat services will be held at 5:30 p.m., followed by Shabbat dinner at 6:30 p.m.; reservations for the dinner can be made by contacting the office.
