BBYO has announced the launch of Beyond, a new gap-year program in Israel. The pre-college program will offer academic experiences along with community service opportunities, leadership programming and travel.

The B’nai B’rith Youth Organization’s first gap-year offering is co-sponsored by Hillel, Masa Israel Journey, Authentic Israel (which handles much of Birthright Israel travel) and Tel Aviv University, which will serve as the program’s home base.

“Our teens have requested a gap-year experience, Israeli and North American Jewish leaders have called for more of these programs, and we feel uniquely capable of delivering something scalable and life-changing,” notes Matthew Grossman, BBYO executive director.

Applicants for the Beyond program can choose between a five-month and nine-month experience. Masa is offering $1,000 subsidies to most applicants, and another $3,000 in aid based on financial need.
