Tapir born in Israel, named Pinhas

Yet another adorable baby animal was born at the Ramat Gan Safari near Tel Aviv.
Last year, Passiflora gave birth to Pinhas’ older sister Papaya (it’s a tradition to give the newborn a name that starts with the first letter of the mother’s name).
South American tapirs are considered endangered, which makes Pinhas’ birth an even bigger cause for celebration. Baby tapirs are born with yellow stripes, and after six months they get their brown fur. — jta
