Festival of mini-booths

Follow j. on   and

Since building a large sukkah is sometimes a challenge, the Israeli Cultural Connection at the Oshman Family JCC in Palo Alto had a new idea this year: mini-sukkahs! A 10-team building “competition” for Sukkot (the Festival of Booths) was held Sept. 28, with the ICC supplying kits that included wood, nails, cloth, plastic sheeting and palm fronds. The adults did the building and the kids did the decorating, and teams had 21⁄2 hours to complete the job. A great time was had by all, and the sound of hammering mixed beautifully with the festive Sukkot music, according to organizers.
