BAsukkah_jugs_1_NORMAL_sizeA project eight months in the making, the sukkah built by students at Brandeis Hillel Day School in San Rafael is constructed out of more than 400 plastic milk jugs and other recycled materials. “It looks even more amazing than I imagined it would when I started planning it,” noted Lisa Levy, the art teacher at BHDS Marin. Levy used the 2010 Sukkah City exhibition in New York City as a way to teach the students about innovation and Jewish ritual. A competition was held to collect all of the necessary jugs. The sukkah, which was unveiled Oct. 1 at the Osher Marin JCC’s Harvest Festival, will be on display through Oct. 12 in the school’s lobby at 180 N. San Pedro Road, San Rafael.
