Jewish-life primer for law enforcement

Follow j. on   and

American law enforcement and homeland security agencies are distributing a primer that details Jewish life and violent incidents against Jews in the U.S. and abroad.

The Secure Community Network, an initiative of the Jewish Federations of North America and the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, created the 36-page document in response to requests by national and local law enforcement agencies, according to the SCN. The project was funded by a grant from Implant Sciences Corp., a security firm that produces sensors that detect explosives.

The document describes Jewish life  and holidays, and  details violent incidents directed at American Jews and other Diaspora Jewish communities.

Over the past few weeks, SCN has distributed it to law enforcement agencies. The Department of Homeland Security distributed it to 50 state representatives and posted it as a resource for training and education. — jta
