Sinai Chapel to observe custom

Kever Avot, the custom of visiting graves during the Days of Awe, is going to be observed by Sinai Memorial Chapel with a daylong program on Sunday, Sept. 23 at Eternal Home Cemetery, 1051 El Camino Real, Colma.

An annual service at the Holocaust memorial begins at 10 a.m. Rabbi Jerry Levy will officiate and students will recite the names of Holocaust victims.

From 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., bookseller Rabbi Irvin Ungar has volunteered to evaluate people’s Hebrew books, Bibles, prayerbooks, haggadahs and other Jewish texts for free.

The program will conclude at 2:30 p.m. with the rededication of the Odessa Holocaust Memorial at its new location.
