Jewish families leave Migron outpost

Follow j. on   and

All of the Jewish families living in the West Bank outpost of Migron have been evacuated.

The 50 families began moving out Sept. 3 as border police went door to door handing out eviction notices. Dozens of young demonstrators were forcibly removed by police.

Israel’s Supreme Court ruled that the outpost had to be evacuated by Sept. 4. The ruling was in response to a petition filed by the families requesting a delay in the eviction until the modular homes being built for the evacuees are completed.

The outpost’s homes must be razed by Sept. 11, with the exception of the homes of 17 families who claimed in a petition to the court that they had purchased or repurchased their homes’ plots. — jta
