Anti-Israel protesters disrupted the first of three performances in Scotland by Israel’s acclaimed Batsheva Dance Company.
A group of protesters disrupted the dance performance three times; about a dozen of them were ejected from the theater, according to the London Jewish Chronicle. In addition, about 150 demonstrators burning tickets and holding signs such as “Don’t dance with Israeli apartheid” stood outside the performance hall.
The Batsheva troupe performed “Hora” on Aug. 30 as part of the Edinburgh International Festival.
The group received repeated standing ovations from the crowd despite the incident, the newspaper reported. — jta
