Porcelain, silk paintings and monotypes are among the artworks to be featured when the Fibre Arts Design Studio in Palo Alto hosts an exhibit to raise funds for public elementary schools and after-school programs. The exhibition runs Aug. 23 through Sept. 2, and a portion of all sales will be donated to the Jewish Coalition for Literacy (JCL), which trains about 400 volunteers a year to help underprivileged Bay Area students learn to read. The JCL also collects thousands of books a year that are donated to underserved local schools.
The opening reception is 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23 at the studio’s gallery, 935 Industrial Ave., Palo Alto. The exhibit and sale will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. More information at http://www.fibreartsdesign.com or (650) 485-2121.
