Oscar-winning Jewish starlet Natalie Portman married Benjamin Millepied in a small ceremony Aug. 4 in Big Sur under the stars. The two exchanged vows as they were both wrapped in tallits under a chuppah. Millepied, whom she met while rehearsing for the blockbuster “Black Swan,” and who is not Jewish, broke the glass to a collective cheer of “Mazel tov!”
The newlyweds’ 14-month-old son, Aleph, attended — along with famous guests including Diane Sawyer, Ivanka Trump and Macaulay Culkin. The wedding was completely vegan, per Portman’s current diet, and instead of a wedding cake, French macaroons were served, to honor Millepied’s home country. Guests danced a 20-minute hora during which the bride and groom were lifted on their chairs.
Portman was born Natalie Hershlag in Jerusalem, and carries Israeli and U.S. citizenship. — jta
