The pro-Israel nonprofit StandWithUs launches a new ad campaign next week, with posters in select BART stations highlighting positive aspects of Israeli society. The posters will be up June 18 to July 17 in the Berkeley, Civic Center, Embarcadero, Powell Street, MacArthur and Oakland/12th Street stations.
One poster includes the tagline “Israel Saves Water,” touting the country’s water-saving technological advancements, some of which are being applied in Sonoma County. The second poster shows how “Israel Saves Lives” through AIDS treatment advancements, which target infected cells without harming healthy cells.
The ads were launched to counter a similar BART ad campaign by Jewish Voice for Peace and other organizations, calling for an end to American military aid to Israel.
