The event, set for May 31 at the JCC of San Francisco, will feature entertainment from “The Vagina Monologues” playwright Eve Ensler and Congregation Emanu-El Cantor Roslyn Barak. In addition, domestic violence survivors will tell their stories. A reception, silent auction and raffle will precede the dinner program.

Ensler will speak about her work and perform a sneak preview of her new play, “I Am An Emotional Creature,” which is about the secret inner lives of girls.

Aimee Golant, a Bay Area metal artist, was commissioned to create two commemorative pieces to celebrate the 20th anniversary. She created a commemorative mezuzah in the shape of a house and a matching charm necklace. Inside the mezuzah is the Hebrew letter “shin” to represents Shalom Bayit (peace in the home).

“My mission of promoting the home as a safe sanctuary through the teaching of the mezuzah and Shalom Bayit’s mission of ending domestic violence are perfectly aligned,” Golant said.

Founded in 1992, Shalom Bayit helps Jewish victims of domestic violence though peer support, counseling, advocacy and education. The agency also engages in community education, prevention work and technical assistance to community organizations.

Tickets for the gala are $118. It will begin at 6:15 p.m. May 31. For information, call (510) 451-8874 or visit http://www.shalom-bayit.org.
