Program offers free kids’ books in Hebrew

Three Bay Area Jewish day schools are on board with a new national effort to bring Hebrew children’s books to families for free. Each month, Sifriyat Pijama B’America, or SP-BA, will mail a Hebrew-language children’s book (appropriate for kids ages 3 to 6) to families who register.

Wornick Jewish Day School in Foster City, Yavneh Day School in Los Gatos and Oakland Hebrew Day School have all signed on as registration sites for the program. All will be holding registration days in the coming months; families, whether affiliated with the school or not, are invited to visit on those days and sign up for a year of free book delivery.

Program organizers say the goals of SP-BA are to strengthen participants’ Hebrew- language proficiency and to bring more Israeli-American families into the fold of their local Jewish day school community.

For more information or to register, contact a participating school: Wornick Jewish Day School at (650) 378-2600, Yavneh Day School at (408) 984-6700 or Oakland Hebrew Day School at (510) 531-8600. n
