The Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley is welcoming actress, author and neuroscientist Mayim Bialik on May 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. for an event that will include the dedication of a new sculpture for the Community Mikvah of Silicon Valley.
Bialik currently stars as Amy Farrah Fowler on the sitcom “The Big Bang Theory” and is also known for her role on the 1990s sitcom “Blossom” — but she also received degrees in neuroscience and Hebrew and Jewish Studies from UCLA in 2000, and earned a Ph.D. in neuroscience in 2007.
The afternoon will include the dedication of a new piece of art for the mikvah by local bronze sculptor Joyce Steinfeld. The community mikvah, which opened its doors in 2008, is located at the federation’s Levy Family Campus in Los Gatos; Bialik’s talk will take place in the nearby auditorium.
