An observant Jew, Bialik will speak about what mikvahs mean to her and her personal experiences with immersing. Tours will be available at the close of her presentation. Those interested in becoming a sponsor of the event (for $360) can have lunch with the actress before the program.

Bialik currently stars as Amy Farrah Fowler on the sitcom “The Big Bang Theory” and is also known for her role on the 1990s sitcom “Blossom” — but she also received degrees in neuroscience and Hebrew and Jewish Studies from UCLA in 2000, and earned a Ph.D. in neuroscience in 2007.

The afternoon will include the dedication of a new piece of art for the mikvah by local bronze sculptor Joyce Steinfeld. The community mikvah, which opened its doors in 2008, is located at the federation’s Levy Family Campus in Los Gatos; Bialik’s talk will take place in the nearby auditorium.

The Levy Family Campus is located at 14855 Oka Road in Los Gatos. Tickets are $18 and include light refreshments. For more information, contact Rabbi Leslie Alexander at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or (408) 358-3033; to RSVP, visit
