The Bay Area–based Koret Foundation and the Taube Center for Jewish Life in Poland recently funded a project to open a wellness/exercise center in the Jewish Community Center of Krakow, Poland. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Jan. 25.

The Jewish Community Center of Krakow, winner of Europe’s JCC of the month in February 2011, has been considered a success in cultivating Jewish culture throughout its region. With limited funds, the JCC has been able to open a Sunday school and a nursery, as well as offer community enriching classes.

“Now it offers a place to ensure physical well-being, as well,” Helise Lieberman, director of the Taube Center for the Renewal of Jewish Life in Poland, said at the opening. “[Foundation president Tad Taube and foundation CEO Jeffrey Farber] are looking forward to a morning workout here during their next visit.”
