“Is it a senior moment, or something else?” is the first line in the description of an upcoming panel sponsored by the Business Leadership Council of the S.F.-based Jewish Community Federation.
The panel is titled “Healthy Brain Aging: What People of All Ages Need to Know,” and it will address genetics, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Attendees will learn about the latest research on recognizing the problems associated with one’s aging brain, as well as remedies to treat the symptoms.
Speakers will include Dr. Adam Boxer, associate professor of neurology at UCSF; Gregory Tranah, a scientist at the California Pacific Medical Center Research Institute; and Dr. Kristine Yaffe, chief of Geriatric Psychiatry and director of the Memory Disorders Clinic at the San Francisco VA Medical Center. Dr. Janice Schwartz, director of research at the Jewish Home in San Francisco, will serve as moderator.
The event will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 28 at the law offices of Morrison and Foerster, 425 Market St., San Francisco. The cost is $60 at the door, with a $10 discount for registering by Feb. 25. Federation donors who sign up early will pay either $25 or $35.
