The third annual Jewbilee is scheduled to take place from 1 to 8 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Addison-Penzak JCC in Los Gatos. The event is a day of Jewish learning that will feature presentations, classes, workshops, performances, speakers and panel discussions.

Designed to cover a wide spectrum of Jewish thought, interest and expression, the event will include presentations by rabbis, professors, students, artists and performers from diverse backgrounds. Participants can choose from multiple offerings during four learning sessions.

Among the options: Tom Johanix, South Bay director of AIPAC, speaking on “Israel: A Strategic Asset for the United States;” Middle East expert David Meir-Levi discussing the Arab Spring; Rabbi Lisa Levenberg of Los Gatos’ Congregation Shir Hadash addressing “If Rabbi Hillel Had Facebook: A Values-Based Approach to Social Media;” life coach Sooze Protter on “Getting It Right Before It Gets Rocky: Understanding Jewish Teens;” and Rabbi Hugh Seid-Valencia from Palo Alto’s Kehillah Jewish High School sharing insights on modern Israeli poets.

In addition, the day will include two screenings of the Academy Award–winning documentary “Strangers No More,” which follows three students at a Tel Aviv school attended by children from 48 countries who have survived genocide, war and famine.

Berkeley writer Lisa Klug, author of “Cool Jew: Ultimate Guide for Every Member of the Tribe,” will talk about her book. Interactive presentations and music for children, art workshops and two performances by the Klezmakers will round out the offerings. Childcare will be available for children 6 weeks to 10 years old.

Jewbilee is sponsored by the Koret Taube Jewish Peoplehood Initiative. Cost, which includes kosher snacks and small plates available throughout the day, is $10 for adults, $8 for students and seniors, and free for children 4 and younger. The JCC is located at 14855 Oka Road in Los Gatos.
