As the bloodshed in Syria intensifies, villages along the border with Israel have been fairly quiet, but Israel is preparing for the riots to spill over to its borders, according to Ynet.

If it does, and Syrian refugees attempt to escape and seek political asylum in Israel, refugees are expected to receive temporary shelter in Israel, Ynet reported.

The Israeli government and military also is preparing for the renewal of border protests by Palestinian refugees living in Syria or Lebanon. The Israel Defense Forces has nearly completed various construction projects, including a lineup of barriers along the border with Syria and a new border crossing.

The IDF also been running drills and simulating extreme scenarios, including an attempted soldier kidnapping and gunshot fire during a border protest. — j. wire report
