East Bay Jews, a new initiative by the Jewish Federation of the East Bay that aims to strengthen, deepen and enrich the region’s “young-ish” Jewish community, has scheduled a Nov. 15 launch party at the Era Art Bar and Lounge in Oakland.

“Our goal is really to help young adults connect with each other, to work with existing organizations in the East Bay to reach more of them, and to serve them more deeply,” said Julia Malkin, a development associate at the federation and director of the new initiative. “We also want to fill gaps in who’s currently being served — reach out to young adults and young families who live in Walnut Creek, Lafayette, Danville and other places besides Berkeley and Oakland.”

Over the next year, in addition to organizing social events and community-building activities, the group will be subsidizing registration for 25 young adults (roughly ages 25 to 44) to attend TribeFest 2012 in Las Vegas, and will be partnering with the LGBT organization Keshet Ga’avah to subsidize a contingent of gay young adults.

The launch party and mixer, which will run from 5:30 to 8 p.m., offers snacks and one free drink per person. Era Art Bar is located at 19 Grand Ave., near Broadway and the 19th Street BART station, in Oakland. For more information, visit www.eastbayjews.org/launchparty or call (510) 318-6435.
