Sotheby’s will offer 38 rare pieces of art from the collection of the Israel Museum during the fall and winter auction seasons in New York and London, the auction house announced.

Impressionist and modern art worth an estimated $17 million —  including works by Marc Chagall, René Magritte, Camille Pissarro, and Georges Braque — will be for sale in New York in November.

In July 2010, the Israel Museum completed a three-year renewal project that included the first comprehensive re-evaluation of its nearly 500,000-object collection since its founding. Proceeds from the works on offer will benefit future acquisitions.
