Israeli Arab may be in line for supreme court

by JERUSALEM (JTA) -- The committee in charge of appointing judges is considering an Israeli Arab for Israel's Supreme Court., If appointed, Abdel Rahman Zoabi of Nazareth would be the first Israeli Arab on the high court.

Englard will fill a position traditionally held by an Orthodox justice.

The committee is also considering the appointment of Yosef Goldberg, who now serves on the Tel Aviv District Court.
