B'nai B'rith reorganization
In District Four of B'nai B'rith's final meeting, more than 200 delegates will convene July 6 to 9 at Oakland Marriott City Center.
A B'nai B'rith reorganization will focus on members' interests rather than their geographical boundaries. Instead of seven districts in North America, the group will be restructured into 18 regions. District Four has existed for 134 years.
Convention speakers will include Tommy Baer, B'nai B'rith international president; Warner Bein Oberndoerfer, district president; Nava Mizrachi, international president of B'nai B'rith Girls; Joel Baker, district executive director; and Rabbi Daniel Gordis, dean of the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies at University of Judaism in Los Angeles.
District Four -- soon to become four newly named regions -- covers 10 Western states, including Alaska and Hawaii, as well as British Columbia.
