South Bay Shorts South Peninsula volunteers to be honored at June 24 event

He is also a founder of the Sino-Judaic Institute and, by lecturing locally, nationally and internationally on behalf of the institute, has strongly influenced the study of the ancient Jewish community of China.

The first recipient of the Jim Brooks Award for a young leader under the age of 50, Feldstein is best known as one of the founders and first president of the Mid-Peninsula Jewish Community Day School.

Currently on the board of Congregation Beth Am and an active JCF volunteer, he has been described as a pioneer "willing to take risks, work hard and overcome obstacles."

During the ceremony, which is sponsored by the South Peninsula region of the S.F.-based Jewish Community Federation, tribute also will be paid to campaign volunteers and outgoing South Peninsula leaders. For more information, call (415) 494-8444.

Summer mini-camp, drama camp sessions begin June 23 in Los Gatos

Summer mini-camps at Addison Penzak Jewish Community Center for ages 5-13 will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 23 and continue for three weeks, at 14855 Oka Road, Los Gatos.

A second session will begin July 14 and a third on Aug. 4.

In addition, the Performing Arts Company's summer conservatory will run for six weeks beginning June 23 for ages 5 through 10th grade, and students will present "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" July 26 through Aug. 3.

Parents, babies can bounce together at Peninsula Temple Sholom

The Early Education Department of Peninsula Temple Sholom has started a Bouncing with Babies activity program.

It is for parents and infants three months through 12 months of age.

The group meets at 9 a.m. Mondays at the synagogue, 1655 Sebastian Drive, Burlingame. For information, call (415) 697-2279.
