The Jewish Coalition for Literacy will celebrate 10 years of helping Bay Area children improve their reading skills with a special benefit. The Sept. 20 event will honor 40 long-time JCL tutors and key donors. In addition, the theatrical company Word for Word will provide entertainment.
A project of the East Bay and S.F.-based Jewish Community Federations and the Jewish Community Relations Council, the JCL recruits and trains volunteers to become reading tutors in Bay Area public elementary schools.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco, 3200 California St., S.F. For tickets and information, call (415) 977-7430 or visit http://www.jclread.org.
