Vandals spray-painted graffiti on the sidewalk and back fence at Congregation Beth Shalom in Carmichael, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department told a local TV station.
One of the vandals left behind yellow paint footprints, police said. The vandalism was reported Aug. 9.
Beth Shalom has been targeted before. In November 2009 vandals painted swastikas and SS graffiti on building walls on the anniversary of Kristallnacht. In 1999, it was one of three Sacramento-area synagogues hit by arson. Two white supremacists were sentenced to lengthy prison terms for the crime.
