Tel Aviv art house finds home in S.F.

Two Israeli artists have begun work in San Francisco on a life-size installation art project.
The artist duo of Lital Dotan and Eyal Perry are creating and displaying “The Glasshouse” from now through Oct. 6 at the Marina Abramovic Institute West, 575 Sutter St., near Union Square.
“The Glasshouse” is a work-in-progress, interactive art installation spread throughout the MAI’s 7,500-square-foot gallery. The artists are recreating their Glasshouse in Tel Aviv, a house that they have totally transformed into a work environment, a performance space and an interactive art exhibit (with works spread throughout, even in closets and inside kitchen pots). Everything is art-related and part of the installation, and visitors are in the middle of it all.
During their three-month residency, Dotan and Perry’s living art production and performances will be open to the public during gallery hours, 12 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays. The first of four special performance dates is Thursday, Aug. 5.
