Genia Marchasin
June 6, 1915–July 7, 2010
Genia was a Holocaust-era survivor who survived WWII by fleeing Poland to Russia, Sweden and, finally, the United States. Born in Poland, Genia met and married Moritz Marchasin in 1939. They were married 45 years, until his death in 1984. Together, they raised Isac (Eileen) Marchasin and Helen (Zevika) Salles. Genia adored her grandchildren — Richard Marchasin, Laura Levine, Benjamin Salles and Adina Zbriger — and her eight great-children ranging from 10 years down to 2, with her ninth on the way.
Genia was a volunteer for the Jewish Home for the Aged and other Jewish charitable organizations. As the matriarch of this family, she adhered to traditional Jewish values; still, she enjoyed her trips to Reno and never missed a bingo game.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to your favorite charity.
Services were held at Eternal Home Cemetery in Colma.
