Israel’s water shortage has caused a dramatic shortage in the amount of available marijuana, and the weed that is available is very expensive, according to a report in the Israeli daily Ha’aretz.
The record-low rainfall is not the only reason that marijuana supplies are short in Israel, Ha’aretz reported. The newspaper noted the increased number of successful drug busts, fewer growers and the cooperation among Egyptian cartels in order to hike up prices.
Meanwhile, marijuana prices have soared by several hundred percent, according to Ha’aretz, which reported without citing sources that the pre-drought price was roughly 75 cents per gram versus about $9 today. — jta
