If some stranger walks up and starts chatting with you while you’re having lunch at the Contemporary Jewish Museum, don’t be alarmed. It’s probably local monologist Josh Kornbluth, who’ll be visiting the café several times this month and next, starting Monday, July 12.

The conversational banter is part of Kornbluth’s new improvised piece, dubbed “Café Chat: What’s Cookin.’ ” Kornbluth will engage the lunchtime crowd from 12 to 2 p.m. during five “performances” taking place July 12, 19 and 26; Aug. 2 and 9.

A filmmaker and former host of “The Josh Kornbluth Show” on KQED-TV, the Berkeley resident created the one-man show “Andy Warhol: Good for the Jews?,” which recently finished an extended run at the Jewish Theatre in San Francisco.

The CJM is located at 536 Mission St., San Francisco. Café Chat performances are free, but do not include museum admission. For information, visit www.thecjm.org.
