Musicians past prime are hot tickets in Israel

Follow j. on   and

Several musicians whose glory days are long gone have been invited to perform in Israel this summer: Sir Cliff Richard, Diana Ross and Neil Sedaka.

Others previously scheduled to appear include Paul Anka, Elton John and Leonard Cohen, who performed in Israel last year and drew large crowds.

Richard, who will be 70 soon, is perhaps the most prestigious of the artists. The British knight had a dazzling music career that began in the late 1950s and lasted around 20 years, and he put on a show in Israel in the early ’70s.

The man who invited him this summer is the same individual who secured his original appearance, Shmuel Tzemach. He has already booked the Nokia hall in Tel Aviv for two September shows. — ynetnews.com

Leonard Cohen At 75

Leonard Cohen past his prime at 75? That’s ludicrous. If the writer had done a little research, perhaps read a couple of reviews from his recent tour, watched his “Live in London” DVD, or even attended one of his extraordinary concerts, he or she would have seen a performer at the pinnacle of his performing power. I challenge you to find the videos of Leonard Cohen’s Tel Aviv concert last September on Youtube and watch a couple of songs, then stand by your statement that his “glory days are long gone.” Sold-out concerts all around the United States at enormous venues signal quite a different story.

First to know a LOT more about whom you are speaking about. Second to read CLIFF WILL NOT BE IN ANY CONCERT IN ISRAEL…this year (he finished a World Tour last month and will be in concerts next October at Royal Albert Hall presenting his forthcoming album “Bold As Brass”).
