What better way to celebrate both Chinese and Jewish cultures than to get together for a rousing game of mah-jongg?

In conjunction with the ongoing “Jews in Modern China” exhibit, there will be a Mah Jongg tournament (both Chinese and U.S. versions) and a screening of the 1998 film “Tiles that Bind” at 4:30 p.m. May 5 at the Presidio Officers’ Club, 50 Moraga Ave., San Francisco.

The 32-minute film documents Chinese and Jewish women discussing their mothers’ connections to mah-jongg.

Admission is free, but RSVPs are required. Call Lauren Bellings at (415) 447-8888 or Linda Frank at (415) 263-8926.
