North Bay Shorts Gershwin is concert focus

Tay-Sachs screenings set in Rohnert Park

UCSF Medical Center will offer free Tay-Sachs carrier screening for nonpregnant individuals 17 years of age and older from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 23 and Thursday, April 24, in Darwin Hall at Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park.

Additional screenings will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 24 in the Chardonnay Room of the residence halls. No appointments are needed.

Anyone can be a healthy carrier of the inherited disorder that kills infants. Rates are one in 150 in the general population and one in 30 in the Jewish and French-Canadian populations.
