Most Jewish Israelis back Palestinian state

by TEL AVIV (JPS) -- A majority of Jewish Israelis support the establishment of a Palestinian state, a Tel Aviv University survey h, The poll also indicated that an even larger majority believe the chances of another Arab-Israeli war are very high.

The telephone poll of 503 Jewish adults, conducted on Sunday of last week, has a margin of error of 4 percent.

Some 36 percent said they do not believe there is a strong probability of war between Israel and the Arabs, while 59 percent said the chances are very high.

Seventy-four percent said they are concerned about the possibility that they or their families could become victims of terrorist attacks, while 26 percent are not worried.

Most respondents (73.5 percent) believe the Palestinian leadership is not doing enough to stop terror.
