CJM announces deputy director for development

The Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco has announced the appointment of James Leventhal as deputy director for development. He comes to the museum after seven years as director of development and marketing for the Judah L. Magnes Museum in Berkeley.

During his tenure at the Magnes, Leventhal helped the board raise $12 million in support of the campaign for the Magnes, and helped to formulate the gifting of the Magnes collection to U.C. Berkeley.

Before joining the Magnes, he worked as a fundraising consultant for the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco to help the campaign for the new de Young. He also worked for eight years at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
