The PresenTense Institute, an intensive six-week summer fellowship based in Jerusalem, is on the hunt for 16 Jewish pioneers looking to transform their socially conscious ventures into reality.
From June 10 to July 24, fellows will work closely with branding professionals, social media entrepreneurs and marketing consultants to develop business plans for their startups, in addition to learning core skills and business tools needed for their success.
San Francisco native Joshua Keyak credited last summer’s PresenTense Institute with helping him jumpstart his endeavor, Green Me Up. The 21-year-old said the six-week “boot camp” exposed him to new concepts, such as writing an executive summary and creating a budget.
“I was overwhelmed by the prospect of actually starting my business, because there’s so much to be done,” said Keyak, who plans to officially launch Green Me Up after he graduates from Yeshiva University in New York. “After the fellowship, I had the confidence and skills to help me be successful.”
By offering incentives for people to conserve energy (besides saving money on their electricity bill), Keyak said he hopes Green Me Up will give people that extra “nudge” to switch over to more efficient energy technology.
PresenTense fellows receive free tuition, room and board. Interested candidates must apply by Feb. 15. All application information can be found at http://www.presentensefellowship.com/apply.
