In an expanded version of the traditional book club, the Osher Marin JCC will launch “More Than a Jewish Book Club — Meet the Author” at 7 p.m. Jan. 26 with Elizabeth Rosner’s “The Speed of Light.”

Berkeley resident Rosner’s novel examines the effects of the Holocaust on survivors’ descendants. Rosner herself is the daughter of two survivors.

The book club will meet the last Tuesday of every month from 7 to 9 p.m. to discuss the current week’s book with a facilitator, then spend the last hour with the book’s author.

The series, held January through April, will include “The Book of the Unknown” by Jonathon Keats, “Pictures at an Exhibition” by Sara Houghteling and “Life, Death and Bialys” by Dylan Schaffer.

The Osher Marin JCC is located at 200 N. San Pedro Road, San Rafael. Tickets for the full series are $100; $30 for individual meetings. To register, call (415) 444-8000.
