Paul Milton Abrahm, MD DOB 11/17/1917 Died 12/11/2009 Paul Milton Abrahm, San Francisco native, died at home on December 11, 2009 at the age of 92. He loved his family, his friends, and his patients, and what made him happiest was helping them. He made them feel better, and gave them ideas that would open new worlds for them or spark their own inventiveness. James Joyce and countless other authors transported him to places he could not visit, though he traveled to every continent, seeing all he could of this world. His extraordinary memory gave him access to everywhere he’d ever been and everything he’d ever read. His jokes and puns were legendary.

He was married to his late wife Helen for over 65 years, and is survived by their children Janet (David R. Slavitt), Stanley (Linda Witong Abrahm), Donald (Claudia Abrahm), and Donald and Claudia’s children Adam, Evan and Andrew Abrahm.

He also leaves those who were like family to him: Sydnee Guyer Lipset; Reni, Diana Amalia, and Daniel Rothschild; and Leah Rothschild Eggers.

He trained us well, and the people we are and will become are his greatest legacy.

Donations in his memory can be made to: The Palliative Care Research Fund c/o Linda Carberry Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, SW 411 44 Binney Street Boston, MA 02115

Marianne Nieder: December 10, 2009, peacefully in her home. Grandmother, mother, friend, Marianne’s beaming smile and warm sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her.

She moved to Chicago, where she met her future husband Emanuel David Nieder. The couple moved to San Francisco in 1960 to be near her father, Robert Weiss, and his wife Lizzie. Marianne was responsible for many mitzvahs, including fund raising efforts for charities and volunteering time at local hospitals. She is survived by her grandchildren Jacob and Marco Zazzeron, and daughter and son-in-law Ardine Nieder Zazzeron and Dante Zazzeron.

Marianne’s favored charities were Women’s American ORT, Jewish Women International, Doctors Without Borders, and UNICEF.
