Richard P. Posner, 91, passed away March 28 in Rancho Mirage, Calif. Beloved husband of Miriam (Saltiel) and father of Marc and Barbara (McGrath), and Karen (Allan Kuperstein).

Richard was Senior Partner of the Iroquis Co., a commercial finance company headquartered in Chicago, founded by his father, Henry, in 1936. His relationship with countless bankers in the Chicago area was legendary.

After the Iroquis Co. was sold to the Mid-City National Bank of Chicago in 1973, Richard consulted with Chicago area businesses for over 30 years.

Gdeaths posner, richardHe served on the Executive Committee of the National Commercial Finance Conference and the Midwest Finance Conference.

Richard attended the University of Wisconsin from 1935-1938, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern University in 1939. He later was awarded a law degree from Northwestern University, and was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1946.

Richard enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1942 , and later transferred to the United States Army Air Corps. As an intelligence officer, Richard commanded a training school from B-17 bomber pilots at Drew Field, Tamp, Fla.

He was shipped overseas in 1944, serving in England, France and Germany. He earned the rank of Captain, and a number of commendations and citations from his commanding officers.

Richard served on the boards of several Chicago area charitable organizations, and was a generous contributor to causes involved the Jewish community, the visually impaired, and disabled veterans.

Services were held April 3 in Chicago, Illinois.

Irving Jack Goodman

In San Mateo on March 28, 2009 at age 90 years. Beloved husband of Sylvia Goodman, married for 65 years; father of Phillip and William Goodman; grandfather of Tamara and Danielle Goodman; beloved son of the late Sam and Sadie Goodman, and brother of the late Monroe Goodman.

Born in Oakland, California, Irving was the former Aleph Godol of Oakland AZA, attending the national convention in 1935.  Irving was a member of Peninsula Temple Sholom in Burlingame and was devoted to all Jewish causes and the State of Israel.  In his later years Irving served as an adviser to Peninsula AZA and was honored by B’nai Brith for his lifetime of service.

Gravesite services were held on Sunday, April 5th at Home of Peace Cemetery in Colma.
