Richard Miles and Dr. Michelle Roland will be married under the chuppah at Kehilla Community Synagogue in Piedmont after Havdallah April 4, 2009. The service will be led by Avi Rose and Shulamit Wise Fairman. Richard is the Senior Director of Marketing for the Jewish Community Federation in San Francisco .
He was previously CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area, after a long career as an entrepreneur. Michelle is the Chief of the Office of AIDS for the California Department of Public Health. Prior to joining the Office of AIDS, she worked as a physician and researcher for over ten years in the HIV/AIDS Program (“Ward 86”) at San Francisco General Hospital. She remains committed to her HIV/AIDS clinical practice, volunteering there one-half a day per week. She received her medical training at University of California, Davis, and completed a three-year primary care internal medicine residency program in 1997 at UCSF. Richard’s two adult daughters, Rachel (25, an actress in Los Angeles) and Martina (21 about to graduate with honors from Whittier College), will be walking him down the aisle.
