Gennadiy Govzman, 51, known as Gena, collapsed from an aneurism on Shabbat afternoon, and died early Sunday morning, March 15th, without

regaining consciousness.  Gena leaves behind a void overflowing with memories of a mensch.  He was the beloved husband for 6 beautiful years to Alison Datz; deeply loved stepfather to Rachel Schwater-Datz; devoted son of Katya and Roma (z’’l) Govzman; beloved brother of Alla and Craig Hager; beloved father of Igor and Zhenya Zaycev; and proud grandfather of Lily.

Gena was a carpenter, an immigrant from Kharkov, Ukraine, a proud American Citizen and completely devoted to his family.  His family and friends mourn Gena’s untimely death.  May his memory be for a blessing.

Arthur Greenberg, 93, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2009.  Arthur served in the military during World War II and retired from active duty in 1954 with the rank of Lt. Colonel.  He began a second career with the Social Security Administration where he worked until his retirement.  A graduate of the University of Missouri, Kansas City, School of Law, Arthur volunteered at the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County until recently.  He was married to his beloved wife, Phyllis, for over 50 years.  He is survived and loved by his friends, neighbors and cousins.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County.


Anne Lehmann Levison passed away on March 16, 2009 in Palo Alto after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Anne is remembered lovingly for her generosity of spirit, her elegance, and her dedication to her family, friends, and environmental causes.

Anne was the loving wife of the late Robert M. Levison, Jr.  She is survived by her children James Levison, Joan Levison, David Levison (Sandra), and Marta Levison, as well as 9 grandchildren. Her brother Armand Lehmann lives in Paris.

Anne was born in San Francisco, daughter of Lucien (Mike) and Sylvia Lehmann. She attended Lowell High School and Stanford University. She and Robert lived in Atherton for the 57 years of their marriage. Active in many environmental groups, she also was the host to innumerable foreign students from Stanford through the Home Stay Program. In the 1970s, Anne was very involved  with Interplast.

Anne and Robert were founding members of Temple Beth Am in Los Altos and long-time members of Temple Emanu-El in San Francisco.

A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, April 21, at 2 p.m. at the Allied Arts Guild, 75 Arbor Rd, Menlo Park. Donations in Anne’s honor may be made to Interplast, 857 Maude Ave., Mountain View, CA 94043 or to Parkinson’s Institute, 675 Almanor Ave., Sunnyvale, CA 94085


Adeline Goodman Nelson

Of Laguna Woods, CA formerly of Milwaukee. Passed away December 28, 2008 at the age of 92. Beloved wife of the late Max T. Nelson and the late Joseph R. Goodman. Cherished mother of Debbi (Peter) Goodman-Smith of San Francisco, CA, Martin (Miriam) Goodman of San Francisco, CA and Dr. Steven (Lauren) Goodman of Hanover, MD.

Shiva service at 50 Piedmont St., SF, Tuesday, March 31, 7 pm.


Louise Weissman

Louise (Kay) Weissman, a native San Franciscan, died Thursday, March 19th at the age of 91. She was married for 35 years to Arthur Weissman, Executive Vice President and member of the Board of Directors of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals, until his death in 1980.

Mrs. Weissman graduated from Lowell High School. She was a member of Congregation Emanu-El for 52 years.  She was active in the Sisterhood Guild and Sisterhood Board, serving on a number of synagogue committees including its museum committee. She was passionate about the city of San Francisco, particularly its physical beauty, its sports teams and its opera, symphony and ballet, and the wonderful relationships she formed here.

She is survived by two sons, Dr. Ronald Weissman of Menlo Park and San Francisco, and Dr. David Weissman of Milwaukee, and daughters-in-law Emely Weissman and Dr. Miriam Schechter; three grandchildren, Daniel Weissman, Aaron Weissman and Julia Weissman; nephew Jerry Kay of Novato; and cousins Marshall Zemon and Barbara Rothenberg of Belmont and Edward Brandon of Chicago.

Services held Monday, March 23rd at Congregation Emanu-El in San Francisco. Remembrances in her honor may be sent to the San Francisco Opera, 301 Van Ness, SF 94102 or to San Francisco Food Bank, 900 Pennsylvania Ave., SF 94107 or sffoodbank.org.
