Israeli cellist to play in Occidental, S.F.

With a rare, vintage instrument in hand, Israeli cellist Amit Peled will perform in the small Sonoma County town of Occidental at 8:15 p.m. March 14, and in San Francisco at 2 p.m. March 15.

Peled, who plays an Andrea Guarneri cello crafted in 1689, has performed everywhere from Carnegie Hall to Tel Aviv’s Mann Auditorium. He recorded an album, “The Jewish Soul,” on Centaur Records. Peled  is a professor at the Peabody Conservatory of Music of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

The Redwood Arts Council show will be at Occidental Community Church, 3637 Church St., Occidental.
