Areyvut, a Jewish education agency based in New Jersey, announced this week a collaboration with JVibe Magazine to recognize the most creative b'nai mitzvah service.

How to participate? Students in fifth through ninth grades are eligible to write an essay explaining how and why they incorporated the Jewish values of chesed (kindness), tzedakah (charity), and tikkun olam (social justice) into their bar or bat mitzvah celebration.

The deadline is Dec. 1. Essays should be between 250 and 750 words.

The three top place winners will be recognized in JVibe magazine. Winners will receive an iPod or a digital camera. Winners and finalists will also receive gift subscriptions and other items from JVibe, as well as gift certificates from Areyvut.
