Gabriel Cohen, National Jewish Post & Opinion newspaper founder, died at age 98.

The Associated Press reported that Cohen died April 19 at St. Vincent Hospital Hospice in Indianapolis.

A native of Louisville, Ky., Cohen founded the Indianapolis-based weekly newspaper in 1935. He also had a brief professional boxing career under the name Abie Levy.

"He was a feisty guy," Post freelancer Ed Stattman told AP. "He was very decisive, very determined. He was absolutely in love with his job." — jta
