Ruth Carlitz June 11, 1922 - March 8, 2007. Ruth died peacefully at her home in Palo Alto, CA, at the age of 84.  Although her health had been failing for some years, she was able to remain in her home with her loving husband of 61 years, Bob; her wonderful caregivers; and her three cats.

Ruth was a native San Franciscan who loved the City and was proud to say she walked across the Golden Gate Bridge the day it opened in May, 1937.  She met Bob in 1944 at the San Francisco Jewish Community Center, and they married two years later.  They had two children during the Baby Boom, and settled in Palo Alto in 1957, where they lived in their Eichler home for 50 years.  Most of Ruth's working years were spent alongside her husband in his accounting practice.  Ruth enjoyed playing mah jong and bridge, reading Herb Caen, rooting for the Giants, and traveling with her best friend, Bobbie.

In addition to Bob, Ruth was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by her daughter, Elaine (John); her son, Steve (Carol); and her brother, Harold; as well as her loyal, lifelong friends.

Funeral services were held at Eternal Home Cemetery in Colma, where Ruth was laid to rest on March 11, 2007.  Memorial contributions may be made to Pets in Need, 873 Fifth Avenue, Redwood City, CA  94063, www.petsinneeed.org Arrangements made by Sinai Memorial Chapel.
