Deaths

Arthur Jehiel Plesur passed away peacefully on October 8, 2006. He was 96. Arthur was born in Buffalo, New York and was a resident of the San Francisco Bay Area since 1959. He was a very special and generous person who touched many lives. Arthur will be greatly missed by his family and friends.




Joseph Young 1927-2006. Entered into rest peacefully with his family encircling him on Monday, October 2nd, 2006.  Son of the late Katie and Max Yuditsky, brother of Harold Armos (Natalie), Bernard Young (Gay) and the late David Young (Florence).  Beloved husband of Kristin, father of Mark Young, Kenneth Young (Julie), Joey Young and Toni Gordon (Doug). He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Jacob Young, Eve Young, Samantha Gordon, Alexa Gordon and Benjamin Gordon. Born in Winnipeg, Canada on May 31st, 1927, he came to the United States to join his brother David in Detroit and later moved to California to join his brothers, Hal and Bernie. Together with his brothers, he opened a television store on Market Street in San Francisco, which eventually became Young Brothers Furniture and Appliance, stalwart business that relocated to the Mission District. The brothers opened additional locations on Mission Street, Geary Street and in Novato. "Mighty Joe," as he was known to many of his friends, became involved in the nightclub business with his family and opened the Executive Suite, a popular night spot in San Francisco, once featured in the movie, "Days of Wine and Roses," and frequented by local and national luminaries and sporting figures in the early 1960's. He was a longtime member of Lake Merced Golf and Country Club, as well as the Godfather Club and Congregation Rodef Sholom. Joe led a very colorful life, full of experiences and stories he loved tell. He enjoyed traveling and sporting events, and was an avid lover of horse racing.  He will be remembered by those who knew him for the twinkle in his eye, his character, and his unique humor. He made an impression on everyone he met, and left them all with a smile. But above all else, Joe loved his family. He was happiest in their company, and was a Husband, Father, and Grandfather like no other. Donations in Joe's name may be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
