Mara Grossman Passed away on August 16, 2006. Born in Harbin, China, January 30, 1923, daughter of the late Nussim and Maria Yablonsky. Married her late husband, Elias, in 1952 and enjoyed a loving and happy 53 years of marriage. Immigrated to Sydney, Australia in 1955 and then to San Francisco, Ca. in 1966 to join her husband's family. Great lover of the arts and a practicing artist in a number of media. She derived enormous pleasure from her pets Booby and Fiefka. She was active in ARMDI and the American Far East Society of Southern California. Survived by brother-in-law Moses Grossman and his wife Verle; cousins Marjorie MacMahon, Mary Smith, Dorothy Carl, and Gregory Grossman; nieces Deborah and Pamela, nephews David, Daniel and Boris. She is also survived by ten grand nephews and nieces and many loving friends. Services were held in Los Angeles. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Jewish Home in San Francisco, Ca. (www.sfjcf.org), the SPCA (www.aspca.org) or the Braille Institute (www.brailleinstitute.org).
Ruth Marilyn Schlussel December 14, 1931 to September 10, 2006. Born in San Francisco to Joseph and Gussie Klein. Graduated from George Washington High School and San Francisco City College and attended San Jose State College. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Leonard; her children, Karen (Paul) Lavrischeff and Steve (Cathy) Schlussel; nephew Jim (Nancy) Offel; nieces Joy and Teri Rothschild and Rabbi Janet (Michael) Offel-Nebenzahl; and grandniece Bryn Offel. Family and friends are invited to a memorial and Celebration of Life on Monday, September 18, 2:30 p.m. at Cribari Auditorium in the Villages Golf and Country Club, 5000 Cribari Lane, San Jose. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, P.O. Box 68, Santa Clara, CA 95052.
